Frikes

38º27’.60’N – 20º39’.91E

Frikes is located to the north of Kioni, at the back of the deep bay of Kolpos Frikon. Is is a nice village with a small port where ferries arrive from Lefkas. To the northeast is a quay where you can moor. There is also a pontoon, but the – too fast and too close passing – ferries can cause serious problems. There are a number of restaurants and a supermarket that sell fresh bread. Tap water is not available. Just like in the southern places of Kioni and Vathi, it is possible to take a tour of the island by taxi. The managers of restaurant Penelope and the flotilla supervisors can help you to arrange this.

Sailing towards this area

Be aware of katabatic winds, which can come from different directions. Nearby Frikes it is possible to see the windmills which mark the bay.

Mooring

Is is advisable to moor sideways along the quay or alongside another moored ship. Anchoring is difficult because of strong katabatic winds and great depth. The floating pontoon cannot be used to moor.
