Kastos

38º34’.12N – 20º54’.73E

The island of Kastos has only one village with the same name. It is located southeast of Kalamos and has a population of 80 people at most. There are three restaurants and a mini market. You can buy bread from the minimarket, including bottled water etc.
The large church was restored in 1985 and is definitely worth visiting, as long as the ‘Pappas’ is present. Please note that proper attire is required and you cannot film or photograph inside. From the point at restaurant The Windmill you can enjoy a magnificent view of the port of Kastos, the mainland and the Dragonera islands.
Always take your garbage with you, the island has no waste incinerator!!

Sailing towards this area

Several mills mark the entrance to the port. The village and port are easily visible from further down the bay.

Mooring

You can moor in reverse along the quay, as long as there is space. Or with the transom towards the beach and by attaching a line to the beach. It is a decent anchorage area, but in strong winds it is advisable to drop two anchors because it can get quite rough during late afternoon.
