Astakos
38º31.9’N – 21º05.1’E
Astakos lies on the mainland, behind the Dragonera islands at the end of the bay. It is a somewhat larger, typical Greek seaside resort. You can do some grocery shopping here and there are several restaurants, a post office and a bank with ATM. Water and diesel are available on the quay. It can sometimes be busy near the mooring areas on the wharf. There is an outpatient clinic and dentist in the town.
Astakos means lobster in Greek. Unfortunately the restaurants do not frequently offer lobster on their menus.
WATCH OUT: Often a strong mountain wind blows in the bay of Astakos. Please beware of this and manage your sails properly!
Sailing towards this area
